What’s new in Electra jailbreak RC1?

Electra RC1 (Release Candidate) comes with a working version of Cydia. This turns Coolstar’s developer toolkit into full-blown jailbreak tool for iOS 11 firmware.
After the nullpixel iPhone X fiasco, Coolstar has adopted a rather cautious approach. He seeded the first release candidate (RC1) only to reputed developers.

The young developer has approached eminent developers, Ryan Petrich and Matt Clarke, thus far for testing purposes.
If you would like to have a test copy of the jailbreak tool, you can request one free on Coolstar’s twitter handle.
I also got my hands on a working link for the leaked IPA file of the developers-only build. I don’t how or which developer leaked it online.
Remember, compatibility and other details remain exactly the same. Once you download it, you can jailbreak your device.

Update

  • Download link removed on developer’s request.

Is it safe to use the leaked Electra RC1 IPA file?

I highly recommend not to use this file except for testing purposes.
With that said, Coolstar and other renowned developers such as nullpixel have warned users not to try anything before the public release.

I am yet to try this because I didn’t save iOS 11.1.2 SHSH Blobs for my main device. If you are really feeling brave and willing to jump the gun, you can find the download link for version RC 1.2 above.
  • Warning – DO NOT try it on your main device. I highly suggest using the leaked IPA on a test device. I assume no responsibility, in whole or in part, for any kind of damage caused to your device.

When can you expect a public release?

You can expect a full-fledged Cydia build once the testers and developers give the all clear.
Apart from stability, we also require updates for all core jailbreak packages such as RocketBootstrap, Anemone, and Filza file manager.
Coolstar is waiting for Filza’s developer to update it but he is yet to receive an answer.
As far as other packages go, Anemone already supports iOS 11 whereas RocketBootstrap largely works for iOS 11 firmware.

According to me, the Cydia version is still a week away because developers need to time to push the necessary updates for Electra.
Moreover, Electra’s latest build has a hacked-up version of Cydia that complicates things further. This might lead to a further delay for a public release.
Did you try the leaked IPA file on your test device? If yes, don’t forget to leave your comments below.
